AI & ML Research Internship
Data center energy use has risen 10-60% since 2015 according to the International Energy Agency. To help IT teams reduce their carbon footprint, I trained an AI model to improve the energy efficiency of a developer's code.
Did you know that Data center energy use has risen 10-60% since 2015 according to the International Energy Agency?
Last summer, I participated to an internship project that would help IT (Information Technology) teams reduce energy consumption.
The internship that I worked for consisted of using generative AI to tell developers how efficient they were in saving energy, thereby allowing them to change their code and hopefully lessen the energy consumption when the application is used.
I first trained on Red Hat’s InstructLab, a project facilitating how LLMs are developed.
At said internships, I've had to take the “best of both sides” and learn about the dangers—and not just the rewards—of using generative AI even for altruistic reasons such as increased energy consumption.
